Obama has always been more eager to buddy up to our enemies rather than our allies. The nuclear talks with Iran, and complete disrespect for Israel’s prime minister is a perfect example of that. I often find my self wondering, is our president this naive, or does he really just hate this country and want to punish us.
After what Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei said Saturday, it makes me think it might be the latter.
The Times of Israel reported:
Khamenei told a crowd in Tehran that Iran would not capitulate to Western demands. When the crowd started shouting, “Death to America,†the ayatollah responded: “Of course yes, death to America, because America is the original source of this pressure.
“They insist on putting pressure on our dear people’s economy,†he said, referring to economic sanctions aimed at halting Iran’s nuclear program. “What is their goal? Their goal is to put the people against the system,†he said. “The politics of America is to create insecurity,†he added, referring both to US pressure on Iran and elsewhere in the region.
That is quite a difference than what Iranian President Hassan Rohani said.  Rohani insists that “achieving a deal is possible†by the March 31. Ali Khamenei, however, has the last word on all matters of state.
Secretary of State John Kerry seems just as optimistic. In an interview after six days of negotiations in the Swiss city of Lausanne, Kerry claimed the talks made “substantial progress,†but says “important gaps remain.
Would one of those “important gaps” have anything to do with the Ayatollah agreeing that every American should be killed?  I would think that maybe we should take something like that into consideration before negotiating, but that’s just a thought.
